About the Project

Once upon a time, I was reading a bedtime story to my son and wished that I had an Ismaili kid’s book to read to him instead. As I didn’t believe there was anything else but a star in sight to wish upon, I decided to write one for my son and for my community as well.

About the Book

This book is about a young boy who learns the meaning of Ya Ali Madad and Mawla Ali Madad. The story takes place in the Ismaili Center Toronto Jamatkhana where the little boy goes through typical encounters. He comes across a wide variety of people such as volunteers, seniors, family members, and friends in rich illustrated scenes that creates opportunities for memorable discussion beyond just the text.

About the Author

My name is Alim. While I have many roles, my favourite job is being Zaydan’s dad. It might seem easy to write a children’s book but I discovered that it takes a lot of work and I have been working on this project for many months. I searched around the world for the perfect illustrator, I hired professional editors to ensure all the details were just right, and I know more about different kinds of paper than I ever imagined.
